Yes, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 3 that we are to be ready to share our testimony. But do we always have our speech ready?
1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
When asked to speak for the Pa Dairy Summit, boy did I have fear! Did you say virtual? I have to listen to my own voice on camera?
Passing Jesus onto others has been my mode of action for a very long time. I love sharing my faith, and the chance to give a talk at a church or public building is something I enjoy. But was I ready to share my faith and testimony in a modern, Covid-19 governed world? Would I learn to adapt to the challenge at hand, not being afraid to speak to a computer instead of real faces in person? I admit, when first asked, I tip-toed around it, unsure if I could even do it. But are we called to have an opinion about our circumstances or called to stand up and do the job God asks?
Now, looking back, I see what an opportunity this was. The presentation was titled “Opportunities Woven Into Setbacks.” Quite possibly, I was the one blessed the most.
I shared the story of the 2007 barn fire our family farm suffered one night in June. Relating it to the opportunity to rebuild exactly how we wanted, I encouraged listeners that no matter how horrible a life situation may seem, there is always a “holy cow to find, a halo of inspiration” that if looked for deep enough, I guarantee can be found. I also spoke about my 2018 injury and the recovery that followed, once again convincing attendees that you can always find a blessing in disguise.
I want to give a huge shout-out to all those who made this possible, those who logged on and heard my testimony, and those that support me on this crazy ride as I try to reach people for Jesus.
Thanks so much.
